Meet the Teachers!

Unlocked Music Studios is not your typical instructional school. All of our teachers are working musicians who are involved in our local community and beyond. Many have experience nationally, and some Internationally, from venues such as: Academia, Ensembles, Original Bands, Cover Bands, Gigging, Recording, Artistic Performance, and so much more.

When you learn with UMS, you learn from those who are actively pursuing their music career.

Austin Boggs

Austin Boggs (he/him) is an Eastern Kentucky born and bred musician who is a consistent performing artist in the Kentucky and Ohio regions. He studied at the Morehead State University school of music theater and dance under Professor Glenn Ginn and completed his undergrad studies in Jazz. He is a guitarist and composer in the well – known group Byrd Law, and a lover of all things MUSIC!!

James Dillon

James Dillon (he/him) is a guitarist based in Lexington KY. starting his journey from an early age, he draws from a wide array of influences ranging from Stevie Ray Vaughan, to Eric Johnson, to Allan Holdsworth. In 2020, He graduated from Morehead State University's Jazz Performance program. James excels as an improviser, and performs as a guitarist and bassist covering a multitude of styles including Bebop, Jazz Fusion, Country, Blues, and Rock. He currently performs with several groups such as: Bryd Law, Garage Lobotomy, Sheldon Road, and Carrie Anne McDonald.

Jared Davis (He/Him) graduated from Morehead State University with a degree focusing on tuba and bass performance in classical, jazz, and traditional genres. He has been playing for 14 years, teaching for 8, and currently performs with Lexington based rock band Wicked Peace. He likes to create a relaxed yet engaging lesson environment, where implementing scientifically-informed learning strategies feels natural and fun!

Jeshua Logsdon

Jeshua Logsdon (he/him) is the Owner of Unlocked Music Studios. He is also a multi-instrumentalist and local theatrical performer. Jeshua grew up singing country and rock music, but has studied multiple styles including classical voice and musical theatre. He is a 2009 alumnus of Kentucky Governor's School for the Arts in the discipline of Vocal Music; and studied performing arts at Savannah College of Art and Design. He had the pleasure of singing tenor with The Stamps Quartet in Christmas with the King (2016 European Tour) and Elvis das Musical (2017 European Tour). Jeshua also enjoys working/performing with groups such as: Adventure Theatre, UK Opera Theater, Studio Players, Black Box Media, Autonomous Collective (local cover/original band), and Caravan Discordia (local original band).

Ryan (he/him) studied all aspects of percussion from a young age. He has played in many ensembles including but not limited to Rock Bands, Percussion ensembles, Drumlines, Jazz Combos, Big Bands, Steel Drum Ensembles, Orchestra, Musical Pits. Ryan also studied privately with collegiate professors and professional working drummers for the last 13 years. His teachers have included but are not limited to Dr. Mathew Geiger of Eastern Tennessee State University, Dr. Brian Mason of Morehead State University, and Mike Hyman of the University of Louisville. During his four year studies at Morehead State, he served as the only drummer in the university’s top big band for 3 full years and is also a veteran member of it’s Jazz Combo, Commercial Rock Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Steel Band, and the first call drumset player for accompaniment for the MSU choir, and Jazz Vocal Ensemble. Ryan has worked professionally as a freelance drummer across the state of Kentucky for 5+ years, and is currently in the bands: Byrd Law, Garage Lobotomy, Autonomous Collective, Sheldon Road, and Carrie Anne McDonald.
